Building or renovating in bushfire-risk areas now carries strict new Building Regulations. This puts many constraints on all aspects of building.

When the Standard was adopted, no window products initially made it through the new test requirements. After exhaustive research, development and testing, Shade&Shield Shutters were approved to manufacture custom-made products to suit any Bushfire Attack Levels, including Flame Zone BAL-FZ.

The Sonnenschutz BAL-FZ Shade&Shield Shutter system was developed and tested to meet the rigors of this new Australian Standard and to provide a safe option for building in high risk, bushfire areas.

The system has been used by the NSW RFS and SES in their headquarters at North Wahrroonga – in recognition that this is the only shutter system that has passed the test AS3959-2009, AS1530.8.2 for Flame Zone.

Many products have attempted to pass this test and have failed, or been certified by an engineer, but never tested to the Standard.

Why wouldn’t you invest to build the rest of your home to meet the requirements of AS3959-2009, and use an unproven window protection system?
