In Context: Design experts take a seat

4 February 2010

Leading lights in the interior decoration field are putting their aesthetic smarts to the test in a new feature at the Australian International Furniture Fair and Decoration + Design.

Created to put current trends "in context", the In Context initiative sees six identical chairs, sourced from Ruby Star Traders, interpreted by six expert brands: Cloth, Edit, Funkis Swedish Forms, the Heritage Building Centre, Orson & Blake and Tara Badcock Paris + Tasmania Art Textiles.

A small textile company based in Sydney, Cloth designs and screen prints contemporary upholstery and curtain fabrics for the home and boutique sectors; meanwhile, based in Surry Hills Edit (pictured) offers an exciting blend of "chic and whimsy, sophistication and fun". Funkis operates highly successful Scandinavian design stores but is also well known as an Australian design company with a strong Swedish influence.

The Heritage Building Centre is dedicated to a sustainable future through the recycling of heritage for the sake of the environment, while Orson & Blake is highly regarded as an eclectic treasure trove of premium quality, unique homewares, furniture and fashion pieces.

Finally the work of Tara Badcock Paris + Tasmania Art Textiles draws on travel, adventure, romanticism and theatre, resulting in an exotic homewares and interior concepts offer.

The results of In Context are currently on show as a major feature at AIFF and D+D Sydney, 3-5 February 2010.
